For this week’s featured pinup I’ve gone back in time to one of the world’s most iconic pinup actresses, the lady with the million dollar legs, Betty Grable!
Betty Grable, born Elizabeth Ruth Grable on the 18th of December 1916, was one of American’s true treasures, with many talents including; acting, singing, dancing and pinup modelling! Her iconic photo posing with her back facing the camera and looking back made her the number one pinup girl during WWII. Within the first 10 years of her career she’d also become the highest paid actress in Hollywood, and famously had her lucious legs insured for $1, 000, 000! Betty was the star in such movies as; Coney Island (1943), Pinup Girl (1944), The Dolly Sisters (1945), and Mother Wore Tights (1947) amoung many other films!
Betty unfortunately passed away on the 2nd of July 1973 from lung cancer. Though she may not be with us now, her memory will live on forever.
“There are two reasons why I am successful in show business and I am standing on both of them.” – Betty Grable
