There are many talented, well known pinup illustrators, most popular artists being male pinup artists such as Gil Elvgren, Alberto Vargas, and George Petty, but how much female pinup artists can you name? A few names spring to mind, but there are quite a few, both past and present. Today I’ll be sharing the artwork of Zoë Mozert.
Zoë Mozert was an early 20th century pinup artist and pinup model, from Colorado Springs, America. She modelled to pay her way through art school, and eventually moved to New York City to begin her career as an artist.
It was a tough industry for Zoë to break through in, but her hard work and talent lead to much success. In 1940 Brown and Biglowe, bought a piece of hers, and then signed her on an exclusive calendar contract.
She worked on many projects, calendars, publications like Romantic Movie Stories, and movie posters such as The Outlaw starring Jane Russell.
Zoe Mozert was an extremely talented lady, who worked incredibly hard to become one of the most popular pinup artists of her time, in a male dominated industry. She is a true inspiration, and her talents will live on forever through her fabulous work.
