Good afternoon lovelies,
For this week’s Sunday Pinup Tip I’ll be giving you a few pointers on how to make your house a vintage paradise when on a small budget, or if you’re renting and don’t have too much space about.
Firstly if you have a rather tight budget op shops, garage sales, markets, online shopping and gumtree.com.au will be your best friend. I have bought countless items from Gumtree and some of my favourite op shops, that have pretty much completely furnished my house. Other great options that require a little less hunting, but do cost a little more include vintage furniture stores like Rockafella Retro on Beaufort Street, Inglewood, and antique stores.
Before decorating a room its good to pick an era or theme to make all your purchases fit perfectly. I’m in the process of decorating the house we’ve just bought and some of the themes I have so far include Mad Man vintage styled living room, 1950’s cute kitchen, and vintage boudoir for my spare room.
Here are just a few quick ways to style your house vintage:
1. Vintage Trinkets.
Vintage trinkets are adorable and very easy to find at an affordable price. I really love little trinkets, they give a room a really lovely atmosphere and are the finishing touch, when we moved for the last couple weeks they’d been packed away, and they really made a difference to the feel of the room.
2. Larger vintage Items.
If you type “vintage” into Gumtree, under “home and garden” you’ll get a taste of the unlimited items you can purchase to turn your house into a home. You have kitchenettes, vintage dressers, vintage dining sets, phone tables, desk, buffets, and eccentric items like the gum ball machine in our house!
3. Make it yours.
Choose items that you love, make your house your home with everything that inspires you.
