Miss Lady Lace; Perth Pinup Queen, Burlesque Artist, Producer, & Blogger.
A little while ago I made an announcement that I’m entrant the Miss Burlesque Western Australia heat, and I thought since I love sharing my passions through blogging, I’d share my journey in Miss Burlesque here!
Burlesque is something I’ve been passionate about for a little while now through discovering Dita Von Teese when I was 14, I began to pursue vintage dancing already studying modern styled of contemporary and jazz. I experimented with hair and makeup, and made costumes even if I were to young to perform, I dreamt of future filled with glitter and rhinestones. I performed in a burlesque styled show when 16, in a group for a showgirl performance, I’ll always remember how thrilling it was to be on stage, and watching my first burlesque show! I continued dancing until 18, where I performed my first burlesque solo and soon after joining a dance troupe where I performed for close to four years, in August of 2015 I left this amazing experience to create my opportunities and make all my dreams come true.
For my being a part of Miss Burlesque Western Australia is a chance to grow as a performer, I’m always working on being the best possible person I can be, and with my burlesque work I’m always looking to improve my work as much as I can. Its a platform where I can share my passions, meet new performers, and of course an amazing experience to perform on stage.
Miss Burlesque as a contest was foundered in 2009, and the first contest was held in July of 2015. Cassandra Jane, is the creator of this contest, but now individual states have their own producers, in Western Australia we’re lucky to Melanie from Sugar Blue Burlesque as our producer.
Western Australia has quite big shows planned this year for both Miss Burlesque and Mr Boylesque, with so many amazing talented performers involved their are two state heats, and then a state final held in September, with the winner of the state final heading to the grand finals in Darwin! I’m going to be in the first of the state heats, which is actually taking place on my birthday which is September 5th! If you’d like to support my burlesque ventures as well as cheer your heart out for each amazing performer competing you can find more information by clicking here!
For 2015 there’s also a new addition to the contest, which is supporting a charity. Each state will fundraise in a few different avenues so we’re able to give back something. This year we have the amazing Save The Tasmania Devil Program, more updates will be made soon on the exciting ventures for the Western Australian fundraising of this!
