Hello lovely pinups!
Friday is here, and it’s time for Friday’s Vintage Cocktail blog post! I’m rather exciting for this week’s decadent drink, named after the incredibly beautiful and talented actress Jayne Mansfield! Let’s celebrate the weekend being here in style and pay homage to one of our favourite vintage starlets!
Don’t forget to drink responsibly and to abide by your state drink laws especially if you’re an underaged reader, you can always make up a mocktail version of this drink!
Jayne Mansfield born in 1933 rose to fame in the 1950’s starting off in stage performances, and eventually became a film star. While Jayne was known as a blonde bimbo, as she often played in films, friends and colleagues new her to be quite intelligent, and she used her assets to help her on her dream to becoming a great actress. Hollywood was a tough place, even back then and getting to the top with such other actresses as Marilyn Monroe was not an easy task. Jayne starred in such films as The Girl Can’t Help It (1956), and The Wayward Bus (1957), for which she won a golden globe! Jayne sadly passed away in 1967, at the age of 34 in a road accident. Let us toast to a beautiful woman who knew what she wanted in life.
I love fruity cocktails and the Jayne Mansfield is no exception! When making mine my local liquor store didn’t have quite what I wanted but by the suggestion of the beautiful lady working there I used a strawberry champagne which worked really well! With this lovely summer weather today this cocktail is perfect for lounging around in either a cute playsuit like the one I’m wearing from Ava and Rose, or maybe even some glamorous vintage lingerie! This drink is delicious, pops a little punch and is decadent and I think it’s everything the glamorous Jayne Mansfield would have wanted in a cocktail!
I do hope you have a glamorous weekend, and if you’re looking something to do tomorrow, I’ll be taking part in a fabulous fashion show at 1pm at vintage markets taking place at Big Al’s Poker Run with The Vintage Collective Markets!
