I often am asked how I have so much luck with all my thrifty finds at op shops and vintage stores, and my answer is always the same, you’ve got to have persistence! I frequent my favourite stores and quite often I leave empty handed but its all part of the fun. Op shops and vintage stores receive new vintage stock all the time, you need to check in regularly to see what they have in, and there’s also a bit of luck depending on if any other vintage lovers have already been in and snapped up a bargain!
Here are just a few fabulous pieces this week!
I picked up this vintage Lady Sunbeam shaver for only $20 from Simply Secondhand, its in working condition, and the cute emblem on the shaver has light that turns on while you shave!
This adorable mint vintage necklace also came from Simply Secondhand and was only $4, mint is definitely a colour every pinup needs, anything that’s pastel has such a wonderful vintage look.
Three records costing a total of $2, also from the same location as Simply Secondhand, they have three stores in one; their store, the taxidermy store, and Midland Records. Featured above I have the The Greatest Big Band Hits of the 40’s which has a few tracks by Glenn Miller, the My Fair Lady soundtrack, ad The Best of Broadway with hits from Gentlemen Prefer Blonds, and so much more!
This vintage nylon scarf I picked up for a dollar from Anglicare Morley which is my favourite op shop! Scarfs are such a versatile accessory you can roll them to a head tie, tie a turban, be used as a neck tie, or even a belt!
This cute case also came from Simply Secondhand for $8, if you’ve not been to this store before you need to, there are so many cute reasonable priced items! This one was originally a vintage powder contained for translucent powder, but I’m using it to store my homemade setting lotion!
May the vintage shopping gods ever in your favour!
