Friday’s Vintage Cocktail!

Hello lovelies!

Today I have for you all my fabulous Friday’s Vintage Cocktail blog! To celebrate the weekend I’ll be concocting a decadent cocktail from the golden age of glamour! As always please be sure to drink responsibly, and if any younger readers stumble across my blog, abide by your states drinking laws, you can always make the non-alcoholic version of this!

For this week I have a drink taking up back to the prohibition, while liquor became illegal in America between 1920 and 1933 this did not stop a blackmarket trade and speakeasies! Today’s drink is one that was apparently drunk by Al Capone and his gang and was known as the “prohibition gem”! This drink is known as the Southside Cocktail, which was a product of the evolution of the Mint Julep cocktail, and is also known as a gin mojito. The Southside was invented at the Southside Sportsmen Club in New York around 1866, as clubs became quite crowded this drink was able to be made into a mix form, which made it easy to whip up this drink just adding the liquor and soda!

  • 2 jiggers of dry gin.
  • The juice from 1 lime.
  • The juice from 1 lemon.
  • 1 jigger of simple sugar syrup.
  • 8-10 mint leaves.
  • club soda or lemonade.

  1. In a cocktail shaker add your lemon juice, lime juice, gin, simple sugar syrup, and mint leaves. Shake well for 10 or so seconds.
  2. Strain into an opulent glass filled with ice, and top with soda.
  3. Garnish with a mint leaf and enjoy!

This cocktail is delicious, and the new glasses I bought from an op shop suit it perfectly! The flavour in this is delectable with a zesty taste and minty goodness! As I used a much smaller glass I filled three quarters of my glass with the mix then topped with my soda and it is a little stronger but definitely in the best way possible! This drink is fabulous for sipping away as we welcome in the weekend!

I hope you have fabulous weekend everyone!

In today’s blog my outfit is composed of mostly op shop finds, a belt from Cherri Lane Clothing, a fabulous true vintage necklace from my grandmother, and earrings and cherry headpiece from Daisy Jean Floral!

More vintage fun coming real soon!

Much love,
